NFL Draft and San Francisco 49ers
Despite his remarkable college statistics, Purdy's draft stock was somewhat undervalued due to his lack of elite size and athleticism. However, the San Francisco 49ers saw his potential and selected him with the 262nd overall pick in the seventh round of the 2022 NFL Draft. Purdy impressed in the preseason and won the backup quarterback job behind veteran Jimmy Garoppolo.
Purdy's NFL debut came in Week 13 against the Miami Dolphins when Garoppolo suffered an injury. Purdy entered the game and delivered a game-winning touchdown pass, showcasing his poise and accuracy. He started the next three games, posting a 2-1 record and cementing his status as a promising young quarterback in the NFL.
